Brief;

A large-scale house renovation led to the redevelopment of a large, sloping garden. The River Tillingbourne flows thorough the garden providing large areas of wetland planting.  Self-binding gravel paths weave through the garden with timber bridges linking them together. Further up the garden, large blocks of planting clothe the banks, first punctuated by spring flowering bulbs providing early interest. Gabion retaining walls cut into the bank give rise to a kitchen garden and access to the upper garden. Around the house large terraces and paths are softened with mixed planting and statement planters with specimen planting.

The hard landscape construction was carried out by the main contractor with Bushy Business tasked with sculpting the ground, preparing, turfing, seeding and planting many thousands of trees, bulbs, shrubs, grasses and herbaceous perennials. This has been a multi-phase project working alongside the main contractor and the designer to realise their vision.
