Brief;

A garden split in two from the old house being knocked down and two new houses built in its place was a blank canvas bar for the protected Oak trees and a brick-built office at the end. The client had a young family and wanted a simple open space with plenty of lawn but still a bigger entertaining space and for it to be softened with planting to provide year-round interest. A modern Cedar clad multi-use room was erected at the end of the garden with an area of decking outside to extend the space. A kids play area sits beneath the trees and a wide swathe of woodland style planting links the two areas. The main terrace was pushed back, and the paving matched to the existing. Cedar slat benches built into the walls sit across a low table water feature providing a easy space to sit and enjoy the garden as well as a more modern feel to the area. The extra space now means the garden dining table can be pushed out away from the house and sit in its own defined area, against a backdrop of planting, providing colour and interest through the seasons.
