Brief;

A large open garden gently sloped away from the house but was plain and lifeless. The client was having a pool installed and needed a design that linked the house and pool area together creating interest and space around the pool to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. A sweeping path of self-binding gravel and simple timber arches provide height and help frame views as you walk down to the terrace around the pool. The small pool house was given the dominance it needed by adding timber arches on either side to frame the building and fill the space with vertical Cedar timbers. The space beneath is filled with a feature Olive and simply, underplanted providing late spring to autumn colour and interest.

The terrace is flanked on one side by a yew hedge to provide some privacy and a windbreak from the neighbouring field. On the other side, a deep border of planting wraps around the terrace and sweeps on to another path back up to the house with borders filled with colour for full summer effect.
