Garden of Reflection; Farnham, Surrey

Brief;

The client had a design by Nick Savage Garden Design and wanted to implement aspects of it in phases. Before our involvement they had had tree surgeons remove several trees, conifers and overgrown shrubs that were choking the garden and making feel much smaller than it was. Hedging was planted along boundaries to hide fencing and to section of and create areas and line the edges of the drive. The existing Yorkstone terrace was extended outside the new Orangery and new paths to link in with the front and back of the house. Leading from this a long reflecting pool of water was built to reflect the sky and is flanked by Yew domes. Soil levels were built up to accommodate this and to gently blend back into the garden to make it look like it was always like this. A vast swathe of Wildflower turf was laid with spring flowering bulbs to soften the gardens edges and provide spring and summer flowering interest. Iroko electric gates with a granite sett threshold and sett edging were laid to extend the drive. A Cherry orchard and cutting garden also flanking either side of the drive as you enter the property provide plenty of interest and structure.
